Over the years the Arab world has been entertained by several actors, actresses, singers, designers and artists. Many have left a long-lasting impact globally like Oscar nominee and Egyptian actor Omar Sharif who passed away in 2015 aged 83, while many others had a huge fan-following in the Arab world. Here is a list of some of the most popular artists who bid farewell to the world in the last three years.

Madiha Yousri, 97

Yousri started her career in 1942 with Mohammed Karim’s Mamnou’a el Hub (Love is Prohibited) and her big break came through Ahlam el Shabab
(Dreams of Youth).

Amal Farid, 80

An actress of Egypt’s golden era from 1950s to 1960s, Farid was popular for her roles in A Date With Happiness, Nights of Love and Girls of Today.

Abu Bakr Salem, 78

Abu Bakr started his career at 17 with his first song You Are The Most Beautiful Among All Roses and later compiled a book of his poems called A Poet First, a Singer Afterwards.

Tharawat worked in over 30 films before retiring in the 1980s. Her most noted works have been Hekayet Thalath Banat, Bent 17 and Al-Mozneboon.
