Renowned music producer, investor and front man for The Black-Eyed Peas, will.i.am, is the new voice for Expo 2020 Dubai’s latest ad, according to a surprising video dropped on the event’s official YouTube channel.
“You weren’t there when humans conquered fire, when they wore animal skin attire or invented the bicycle tire,” will.i.am says over a microphone in a recording studio.
“You weren’t there when they created algebra, built the pyramids in Giza or painted the Mona Lisa. You weren’t there when they first made paper or built the amphitheater, when they calculated gravity or made flying a reality,” the seven-time Grammy-winning music producer continues as images of historical moments flash over his voice. A similar video of Emirati singer and Expo 2020’s new cultural ambassador Hussain Al Jassmi talking in Arabic was also shared online.
This isn’t the first collaboration for the American artist in the city. Earlier this year, the multifaceted artist’s technology firm I.AM+ partnered with Dubai-based retail giant Majid Al Futtaim on a voice-based AI-powered shopping solution.
will.i.am—real name, William Adams—is reportedly worth in the region of $75 million. He rose to fame as the front man of The Black-Eyed Peas, who have sold 31 million albums and 58 million singles globally, according to his official website.

He is the founding shareholder in Beats Electronics, which is a subsidiary of Apple Inc. and creator of Beats by Dre™ headphones.
