Malaysia retained its position as the largest Sukuk issuer in the first half of 2021 by issuing $37.5 billion worth of Islamic bonds, constituting 37% of $102 billion worth of issuance across the globe. Saudi Arabia seized second place by raising $22 billion in Sukuk, which constitutes 22% of the global Islamic bond issuances. Saudi is also the leading Sukuk issuer in the GCC region.
