Bin Shafar assumed his current role in 2004. As of March 2024, Empower served more than 136,000 corporate and individual customers in more than 1,540 buildings, with a connected capacity of more than 1.52 million refrigeration tons and a contracted capacity of more than 1.7 million. In Q1 2024, Empower signed 37 new contracts to provide over 34,000 refrigeration tons to various projects and buildings in Dubai. Bin Shafar also serves as the chairman of the board of ELIPS, as a board member emeritus of the International District Energy Association, and as chairman of the District Cooling Operators Association in Dubai.
