Formerly known as Qatar Petroleum, QatarEnergy was rebranded in October 2021. The company’s North Field East Project is the first phase of Qatar’s planned liquified natural gas (LNG) expansion. It aims to raise its production capacity from 77 million tons to 110 million tons of LNG per year. QatarEnergy’s second phase, the North Field South Project, will further increase production capacity from 110 million tons to 126 million tons per year. Besides his role at QatarEnergy, Al-Kaabi is also Minister of State for Energy Affairs.
