The Orientals Group was first founded as a single loom operation by Mohamed Farid Khamis. Today, the group has over 240 looms, 259 stores in Egypt, and three distribution offices in the U.S., the U.K., and the U.A.E. The group’s portfolio includes textile, petrochemicals, education, real estate, and agriculture businesses. Oriental Weavers Carpet employs over 17,000 people and produces more than four million copyrighted designs. It exports to 130 markets across MENA, Europe, and Asia. In June 2022, Yasmine Khamis became a founding member of the Africa Business Leaders Coalition, an initiative by UN Global Compact to advance sustainable growth, prosperity, and development in Africa.
