Kurien assumed his current position in 2018, having previously served as a General Manager in 2011. In May 2024, Al Hamra inaugurated the Sofitel Al Hamra Beach Resort, which was first revealed in 2021 in partnership with Accor and consists of 292 luxury suites and launched Waldorf Astoria Residences Ras Al Khaimah, consisting of 43 ultra-luxury residences, penthouses, and sky palaces. This marks the debut of Waldorf Astoria Residences as part of a managed resort in the U.A.E. In January 2025, Al Hamra announced the completion and handover of Al Hamra Marina Residences in Ras Al Khaimah, which includes 318 designed apartments.
