Cherfan has been in his current role since January 2021, following the merger of Groupe PSA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to form Stellantis. In July 2024, Stellantis revealed a two-phase acquisition of Moroccan Sopriam, a subsidiary of the Al Mada Group. Initially, Stellantis will gain its majority control, followed by full ownership by early 2025. Cherfan concurrently heads the Industrial and Commercial Complexity and Electro Micro Mobility departments of Stellantis MEA, and he is the vice chairman of Tofaş Türk Otomobil Fabrikası.
