Ammar joined the National Council for Women in 2016 as deputy rapporteur of the Legislative Committee and a Court of Appeals judge in Qena. She was among the first 30 women appointed to the Egyptian judiciary. She was also a judge at the South Cairo Primary Court and currently serves as Assistant Minister of Justice for Human Rights, Women, and Children’s Affairs. Ammar’s previous roles include being a member of the Administrative Prosecution Authority, and the Minister of Justice’s Technical Office for Dispute Resolution and Judicial Protection for Children. She was also the first Egyptian woman to be elected as deputy chair of the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption in 2019.
