Hayat assumed her current role in 2016. AMMC is the regulatory authority for the Moroccan capital market to ensure the protection of investors in financial instruments. In October 2024, AMMC signed an agreement to enhance cooperation and mutual assistance with the French securities regulator, Autorité des Marchés Financiers in the field of capital markets. Hayat is also the chair of the Africa and Middle East Committee of the International Organization of Securities Commissions, and she co-founded AFEM, the association of women business leaders in Morocco.
