Tariq joined R Holding as head of internal audit in 2007 and assumed his current role in January 2010. He has 22 years of business management and consulting experience and oversees 1,350 people. In 2023, R Hotels introduced a new coffee brand, Perk, across its seven properties. It also inaugurated an ayurvedic center, ASA Ayurvedic Center, at The Retreat Palm Dubai MGallery by Sofitel. Tariq is also a member of the board of trustees of City University Ajman, a board member of the Ajman Academy and the Tech Group, and an advisory board member of the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference.
