El Gouna is a fully integrated town on the coast of the Red Sea in Egypt. In 2014, it received a UN-sponsored Global Green Award. It has a solar power plant with a capacity of 7MWP as of 2022, a full solid waste management system, a local wastewater treatment plant, an on-site organic farm, and “phase change” temperature regulation materials in all of its properties. It also uses 100% recycled water for irrigation.
