Al-Kaabi joined QatarEnergy in 1986 as a student and was appointed President and CEO in September 2014. Formerly known as Qatar Petroleum, QatarEnergy explores, develops, refines, produces, and utilizes the state’s natural resources, producing natural gas, petrochemicals, fertilizers, steel, and aluminum. QatarEnergy signed a new deal to provide liquefied natural gas to Germany in May 2022. In November 2018, Al-Kaabi became Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and Deputy Chairman of QatarEnergy.
