Solar startup Pawame provides energy access as a gateway to financial empowerment in Sub-Saharan Africa. It has electrified almost 25,000 households in Western Kenya, reaching almost 150,000 people. With a team of 80 employees and over 200 contract agents and technicians, the company plans to provide electricity to over a million people by 2025. The company has raised more than $12.6 million. It has secured $5 million in equity and, earlier this year, it announced the launch of a $5 million Series A funding round. It has also raised $5 million in debt so far, in addition to five grants totaling $1.7 million.
