Export Bahrain was launched under the purview of the SME Development Board in 2018. AbdulKhaleq assumed her current position in 2022. By the end of 2024, Export Bahrain recorded 26% year-on-year growth, reaching $1 billion in export value. In July 2024, Export Bahrain collaborated with Seef Properties to launch Mahali—a premier retail initiative aimed at supporting SMEs in Bahrain. In November 2024, it partnered with the Bahrain Commercial Facilities Company to bolster national exports. AbdulKhaleq previously held leadership positions at Tamkeen, Bahrain Islamic Bank, and Bahrain Development Bank.
