Having joined Pfizer in 1997, van der Loo began overseeing the Middle East and Africa in December 2020 and was promoted to his current role in September 2022. In 2023, the company expanded its distribution portfolio to include the Egyptian market and launched eight products, four of which were for cancer treatment. In 2023, Pfizer reached more than 45 million patients and completed 32 successful launches across the MERA region Since January 2023, van der Loo has been the executive chair for PhRMA Middle East & Africa and is a board member of the U.S.-Africa Business Council, and U.S.-Russia Business Council. He is also a member of the Presidential Advisory on Doing Business in Africa.
