DET is the authority for the planning, development, and marketing of Dubai’s business and tourism sectors. Its departments include the Dubai Economic Development Corporation, Dubai Business License Corporation, Dubai SME, Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment and Dubai College of Tourism. In 2023, Dubai welcomed 17.15 million international visitors, compared to 16.73 million in 2019. Almarri is also the chairman of Dubai Financial Market, a member of the Executive Council of Dubai, and the director general of the Dubai World Trade Centre Authority. He is also a board member at the Dubai Chambers, Taaleem, Emirates Nature–WWF, and the Investment Corporation of Dubai.
