Hanbali has conducted numerous studies that have contributed to resolving issues concerning water impurities. She found a solution for a nitrate problem in water by synthesizing a magnetic nanotube functionalized with cystine and hydroxylamine. The percentage of removal reached 96%. She also created a modified carbon nanotube filter for the removal of pharmaceutical and pesticide residues from water. Hanbali has published 23 papers in a scientific journal.
