In 2023, Wakrim was the first female Moroccan filmmaker to be selected at the Cannes Film Festival. Her short film Ayyur (Moon) won the third prize in the 2023 La Cinef, held as part of the 76th Cannes Film Festival. Wakrim is also a visual artist and psychology student. She studied at ESAV Marrakech, a higher education institution for film and visual arts.
