Al Mubarak was appointed to Secretary General of EAD in 2010 and later assumed her current role. EAD is committed to improving air quality, groundwater, and biodiversity in both land and marine systems. Al Mubarak has been serving as president of the International Union for Conservation of Nature since 2021 and has been co-chair of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures since June 2024. She also served as UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for the leadership team of COP28. She is also founding Managing Director of the Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund, which provides financial support to species conservation projects worldwide.
