Sisters Farida and Yasmine Khamis began leading the Orientals Group in 2020, which was founded by their father, Mohamed Farid Khamis, in 1979. Oriental Weavers Carpet exports to 118 countries. The group also includes the British University in Egypt, Egyptian Propylene & Polypropylene, and Shorouk Academy. In September 2024, the group announced a $1.5 million contract with Integrated Renewable & Sustainable Communities to install a 2.5 MWp solar power plant at its largest manufacturing facility in 10th of Ramadan City in Egypt. Farida Khamis is also the chair of the board of trustees of the British University in Egypt and Egyptian Propylene & Polypropylene. Yasmine Khamis is the chair of Oriental Weavers Carpets.
