Of a global population of 7.2 billion, the 72 on Forbes’ World’s Most Powerful People are ruling the world. Of the total, three Arab leaders and one inspirational head of business that appear on the list are making great strides in shaping the world and moving markets.

The list features 17 heads of state who together run nations with a combined GDP of $48 trillion; 39 CEOs and chairs who control over $ 3.6 trillion in annual revenues; 14 founders; and 29 billionaires with a combined personal net worth of more than $790 billion. Rounding out the top 10, politics is represented by the leaders of Russia, the US, China and Germany; religious leader, Pope Francis is 4^th; the finance sector sees the head of the European Central Bank and the head of the Federal Reserve; technology is dominated, perhaps unsurprisingly by Sergey Brin and Larry page of Google and Microsoft’s Bill Gates who is using his billions to effect major social and health change around the globe.
