Air pollution in China has risen to levels witnessed before the COVID-19 global pandemic, according to new data by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA). In 2018, China used coal for 59% of its energy, making it one of the world's biggest producers and consumers of the resource. Data shows the rebound is likely to be caused by industrial emissions.
