Like all journeys in life, the journey to success requires a map. This map is one’s vision. Vision is what guides you. When the road is rough and obstacles are in your way, your vision will encourage you to continue because you are confident that you are on the right path. When the road darkens, that same vision will light your way. The clearer your vision is, the better it can guide you on whichever path in life you choose.
My career journey was not easy, especially during the first few years of establishing Skyline University College. But I knew what I wanted for the university. I had a clear vision.
Nearly three decades ago, in the 1990s, with only two classrooms, Skyline University College (SUC) opened its doors in the U.A.E. to 40 students. From this humble beginning, Skyline has become one of the esteemed academic institutions in the U.A.E. with over 10,000 students and alumni. This has been accomplished by a clear vision, a concrete plan to realize that vision, and with the support of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, a member of the U.A.E. Supreme Council and the Ruler of Sharjah.
But the vision doesn’t end there, SUC has a goal of giving society world-class professionals who are going to be leaders and trailblazers in their chosen industry. Therefore, it continues to deliver techno-creative education, strengthen the students’ character, maximize their employability, and inculcate in them an entrepreneurial spirit.
Recently, Skyline reached the shores of Nigeria. This marked the realization of another vision, and that is expanding into new regions.
Venturing into other industries has also been one of our goals. And today, from a start-up campus, SUC has become Skyline International Group and diversified its portfolio to include real estate, hotels, F&B, manufacturing, IT services, consultancy, and even agriculture.
The growth of Skyline International Group would not have been possible without vision.
Vision is the compass. It’s what guides you to your dreams. But you have to remember that to live your dreams, your vision must come with courage and action.
If you are a dreamer, wake up and take action. “Action” is what separates a dreamer from a visionary. Create a vision of what your future could be and make a strategy on how to achieve it.
And wherever you are or whatever your situation is right now, never let circumstances limit your vision.
