<p class="MsoNormal">German automaker Volkswagen on Thursday said it is facing a fine of $121 million for missing European Union (EU) targets on CO2 emissions from its 2020 passenger car fleet. The company was able to reduce CO2 emissions by around 20% in its fleet in the EU to 99.8 grams per kilometer (g/km). It, however, missed the target by 0.5g/km. Notably, the company has already made provisions for the fines in order to ensure that it does not affect its Q4 earnings.</p>
