Despite a two-week ceasefire announced on April 7 between the US and Iran, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has remained effectively closed. Just one non-Iran-related major vessel crossed the strait in the 24 hours to Friday, compared with roughly 140 vessels under normal conditions. A Panama-flagged cargo ship, the Oceana Sky, sailing from Iraq's port of Khor Al Zubair to Jordan, was the sole exception.
