Egypt is repaying $16 billion in debts to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from May 2024 until December 2028, double the amount specified in the latest financing agreement of $8 billion. In March 2024, the IMF approved an augmentation of the original Extended Fund Facility (EFF) with Egypt by about $5 billion, following the initial amount of $3 billion in December 2022.
