The UAE’s interplanetary mission Al-Amal, which means "hope" in Arabic, successfully entered the Mars orbit on Tuesday evening, the most critical part of its journey, marking a major milestone in the emirates’ space ambitions. The landmark event also marks the 50th anniversary of the unification of the UAE’s seven emirates, and if successful, will make the UAE only the fifth nation to ever reach Mars.
