Lombardy, Italy’s northern region, is renowned for its delicious foods, fashion and most importantly, for being the residence of the world’s most famous artist, Leonardo DaVinci. The year 2019 marks the 500th anniversary of the passing of this brilliant artist.
Each year, beautiful Lombardy attracts tourists from all over the world to its shopping malls and streets, making it one of the best destinations in Italy when it comes to revenues from tourism. It is also considered the second most favorite region, in terms of tourism expenditure, from the middle east.
Shopping is the biggest factor that attracts so many tourists to the area. Each year, Lombardy hosts various events, including Fashion Week, Furniture Fair, and the most important design event in the world, Fuorisalone.
Thanks to its appeal among tourists, the city has a well-developed infrastructure too to host visitors. Lombardy has 23 luxury 5-stars hotels. The region lies in between Milan, Lake Como and Lake Garda. More than 650 hotels, four or five-star status, dots the area, offering luxury hospitality services. It has the highest number of sites protected by UNESCO in the country. And beyond all the glamour, it’s known for being Italy’s main agricultural region. It’s also recognized for having the highest number of tourist restaurants (60 restaurants) in 2019.
Milan and Lombardi will be the main hub for a lot of special events and initiatives taking place in 2019 celebrating the DaVinci’s works, in an invitation to follow the steps of the late artist. This will include a range of activities in both fashion and design.
