Last month Carl Icahn liquidated his stake in Hertz realizing a loss of nearly $2 billion on that investment as the retailer went bankrupt. This was not just a one-off - of the last 6 years, Icahn Enterprises has had losses in four. In spite of the losses he is currently worth $14.3 billion.
